Please please educated yourself and your children, you could save your child’s life or a life of another
YOUR parental Awareness: Your child’s life depends on it.
I came across Tim Woda’s article and found it both insightful and the story gut-wrenching – http://resources.uknowkids.com/blog/daughter-of-police-sergeant-victim-in-sexting-scandal
Today’s times are so different than before. Granted our parents probably said the same thing when we were kids “that so many things have change”.
However, with the birth of the internet, smart phones, U-tube, SnapChat, InstaGram, smart phones with video and cameras, and an epidemic and a whole generations of narcissistic kids oh yes we have a whole different animal.
This is just for starter, their LIFE depends on you being engaged, watching and monitoring their cell phone use. Our house rule: phone in parent hands at 8:pm, if there is homework NO phone until completed, unless they are out to a movie or with friends then when they get home. Oh and NO phones in bedrooms and bathrooms (not necessary, and asking for trouble, not to mention the sanitary issue)! Monitor computer use, how they are behaving on the social media platforms….Need I mention entitlement and Narcissistic behaviors…
YUCK! Raising children to be snobbish, disdainful, lack of empathy and patronizing?
I feel the pain of the employer’s and the H.R departments that have to deal with them.
Apparently there is even a disorder for it:
“Narcissistic Personality Disorder is characterized by a long-standing pattern of grandiosity (either in fantasy or actual behavior), an overwhelming need for admiration, and usually a complete lack of empathy toward others. People with narcissistic personality disorder often display snobbish, disdainful, or patronizing attitudes. For example, an individual with this disorder may complain about a clumsy waiter’s “rudeness” or “stupidity” or conclude a medical evaluation with a condescending evaluation of the physician.
In laypeople terms, someone with this disorder may be described simply as a “narcissist” or assomeone with “narcissism.” Both of these terms generally refer to someone with narcissistic personality disorder.”

Anyhoo, off my soap box, thank you for listening and if you get anything from today’s blog, it is that you gave birth (yes includes adopting) to these children it is your job to foster kindness, keep them from harm teach/foster compassion and personal respect/boundaries and that includes educating yourself and them.
With love and support Sue #thankful4u

MUST see Tim Woda article….
“Michaela’s situation is especially important because she is the daughter of a police sergeant. One would imagine that she’d be the last teen to be caught up in this type of controversy. Yet she was.
Remember, your kids might not want to give into peer pressure but still might do so. Oftentimes, they feel as if they don’t have a choice and their social circle represents their entire universe at this stage of their lives.”
In the article, Tim shares 4 important pieces of advice when talking to your kids to keep situations like this from happening.
Tim starts with:
Start off by letting your kids know that you understand how uncomfortable the teen years can be. Tell them that you also felt the weight of peer pressure when you were a teen.
